Pastoral care is fundamental in all that happens in St-Christopher’s. It is policy and practices that are fully integrated throughout the teaching, learning and structural organization of the school with the aim to effectively meet the personal, social –wellbeing- and academic needs of students and staff.
The health and wellbeing of students is attributed to the school’s conditions, school relationships, and means of fulfillment.
Pastoral care in SCS has taken on a more inclusive function that promotes students' personal and social development and fostering positive attitudes. This is done through the quality of teaching and learning; through the nature of relationships amongst students, teachers and adults other than teachers; through arrangements for monitoring students’ overall progress in academic, personal and social life; through specific pastoral and support systems; and through extra-curricular activities and the school’s Christian ethos.
SCS pastoral care assists students to develop positive self-esteem, goal setting and negotiation, whichaims to enhance their strengths and other protective factors contributing to their resiliency as well as developing a sense of social cohesion.Therefore, focusing on developing holistic individual is the ultimate goal in SCS.
A major drive to the holistic development of each student is The House system. It allows every student and member of staff to feel a sense of belonging by becoming a member of House; Jaguar, Lynx, Panther and Serval
By being a member of the House, students and teachers are encouraged to show team spirit as all of the Houses thrive on the ethos of “team work”. Each house has a patron, house captain and assistant house captain. Inter-house is a major pastoral and extra-curricular side of school which develops students’ social, team-working and organization –amongst others- skills. The House system aims to reflect the ethos of the school and the motto, Always Higher. We try to develop this by fostering a sense of community, awareness of each other and a sense of being part of a team.
